La Caserne Bascule

An association and voluntary project in Joigny, France, enabling individuals and groups to meet, cooperate and develop!

La CasBa enabling individuals and groups to meet, cooperate and develop through:

  • A self-managed centre serving ecological, democratic, social and inner transformations.

  • A learning community that takes care of its members and the site, and shares the curiosity and desire to experiment with other ways of living.

  • Anchored in the local ecosystem of Joigny, to support it and contribute to the area's resilience.

  • A hybrid space, because it's a place to live, to host groups (seminars, training courses, residencies, etc.), to work, to experiment (through the layout of the building, a low-energy and low-materials approach, shared governance, self-management, etc.), to meet people and to have fun!

11 geographers are managing the place. 5-10 long-term residents living on site for 3 to 6 months. 28 "friends of the CasBa" who chose to live in the neighbourhood to contribute and follow the project. Lots of visitors passing by for one afternoon to some weeks. More than 900 members of the association.

Welcome of several associations/enterprises engaged in the ecological and social transition. Week-end "Comme à la CasBa" to live a collective discovery of the CasBa universe. "Joie Nid dans le square", a free festival to meet and celebrate.
